BactomusBactomus Ointment contains Mupirocin Ointment 2% that treats bacterial infections, prevents the growth of bacteria, and kills existing bacteria on your skin. You can apply this medication to your damaged skin. Make sure to wash your hands before and after applying the ointment. 

How To Use this Medication

This drug is intended for external use only. Do not take by mouth. Wash your hands before and after usage. If you are treating a hand infection, only wash your hands before beginning. Do not get it into your eyes. If you do, thoroughly rinse your eyes with cool tap water. Use it exactly as indicated on the prescription label, at the same time every day. Do not use it more frequently than recommended. Even if you believe you are feeling better, continue taking the medication for the duration prescribed by your care team. Do not discontinue use unless instructed to do so by your care team.

Apply a thin layer of medicine to the affected region. Cover the area with a sterile gauze dressing (bandage). Avoid using an airtight bandage.

How Mupirocin Ointment 2% Works

Mupirocin is an antibiotic. It kills germs that cause skin infections by inhibiting the creation of key proteins required for bacterial life. Thus, it keeps the skin infection from spreading.

How to Store This Cream

  • Mupirocin should be stored at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 25 degrees Celsius). 
  • It can withstand temperatures ranging from 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (15 to 30 degrees Celsius) for brief periods, such as when transporting it. 
  • Store in a cool, dry area. 
  • Avoid freezing mupirocin cream.
  • Do not keep outdated medicine.

Breastfeeding – It is unclear whether mupirocin gets into breast milk or has negative effects in breastfed children. If you are breastfeeding your child, talk to your doctor. You may need to decide whether to discontinue breastfeeding or stop taking this medicine.
